Carlton Gardens, Melbourne
Vase planted by Dr. Diana Cousens and friends

“When we were considering the ideal place to bury a vase in Melbourne, we chose a city park. Since in 1992, the Dalai Lama had blessed and named a part of Carlton Gardens a ‘peace garden’, we thought it would be auspicious to go there. We got the approval of the City Council to do the vase burial. The Council was pleased to continue what the Dalai Lama had started, with the aim of the peace vase being to create health and well-being for the people of Melbourne. The Dalai Lama had also planted a bodhi tree there but it died and was replaced by another tree with a similar leaf.”
