Mt.Kaimondak, Ibusuki-shi Kagoshima-ken, Kyushu Island
Vase planted in June 2009

Mt. Kaimondak or Kaimondake is also called Satsuma Fuji because the shape looks very similar to the famous Mt.Fuji.  ‘Satsuma’ is the ancient name of present Kagoshima prefecture.  This is a holy place for the Shugen religion which mixed Shinto religion with Buddhism.  Shinto is the original religion of Japan like the Bon tradition was to Tibet.  A Shinto practitioner suggested putting a peace vase here because this mountain is one of the important power points that makes Japan active and strong.
