Mayreau Island

Vase planted by Lesley Ann Patten and Crane Stookey,  March 29, 2001

“Mayreau has one of the most enchanting small bays we’ve ever seen.  Rimmed by palm trees, a very cosy anchorage, lovely beach.  We hiked over the hill to find a suitable place.  The island bills itself as ‘a land of struggle’ and it is a poor place, visited by gigantic cruise ships whose tourists walk the island but there aren’t any tourist shops or hotels.  The place we finally found for the vase was mostly inhabited by goats, a dry and dusty place.”
