Monterrey, Copper Canyon and Matamoros (in Tamaulipas)
Vases planted by Donna Rushing and Jim Spaich, 2005

“Monterrey is the 3rd largest city in Mexico with a great deal of poverty and pollution. We buried the vase in a protected mountain preserve there.  And at Copper Canyon, a seated Buddha rock formation was spotted after planting that vase.  And at Matamoros, the vase sits in its cement jacket in the Rio Grande river.  One side is Mexico, the other side is Texas.  The current is not strong but the river is deep.  The Rio Grande is a troubled, polluted river and represents the struggle of the people trying to cross it into the US.”   Donna Rushing
