Butovo firing range, Moscow and the village of Leonidovka

The first vase was planted at Butovo firing range in Moscow where more than 20,000 political prisoners were shot during the Great Terror of the Soviet Union and thereafter from 1938 to 1953.  The second vase was planted in the village of Leonidovka, in the Penza region of Russia, where the chemical weapon disposal facility is situated. In 2013, a 3,000 ton stockpile of chemical weapons was destroyed there.
