Vase planted by Roselinde Allmendinger and Anouk Shambrook, September 5th, 2015

We planted the vase on top of a hill, facing the ocean between Avocado and Noni trees. There is evidence of indigenous Taino people living on this site in the past. After Columbus and his men arrived on the island, warfare, enslavement, and infectious diseases killed 90% of the indigenous people over the course of just 20 years. We hope this peace vase helps heal the souls of these people, as well as the Dominicans and Haitians who have been fighting with each other for centuries. We wish that the sun, wind and rain carry peace around the world. On top of the hole with the peace vase, we planted a ginger flower.
